Christi and I had a very special opportunity to travel to Colorado Springs in February. Jim Daly and John Fuller hosted us as guests on the Focus on the Family broadcast–a two part episode that aired last week. We shared a little about our journey as parents. As a part of that, we talked about the difficulties we faced throughout the early infant years with our kids.
Moreover, they asked us about the one lesson we learned to simplify how we parent. Not that it makes parenting any easier, but that it gave us filter to make it less complicated. A way we could drown out the noise and focus on what mattered most with our kids–becoming emotionally safe. From this conversation, Focus on the Family pulled out one quote of Christi’s that summed it all up:
If you resonate with that, share the love. We could all use a good dose of universal truth that we don’t have it all together. At least not yet, anyway. 😀
In part 1 we introduce the principles of a Safe House. In part 2 we talk about how we try to messily apply it in our own family.
