At Focus on the Family a few months ago, Jim Daly and John Fuller invited Christi and me to talk about our marriage on the broadcast. The interview turned into genuinely the most transparent on-air conversation we have done together.
On the broadcast, we talked about the marital challenge we faced. We also talked about the practical lessons we learned from an “ah-ha” moment we had. Fortunately, these lessons turned into a way of conversing with one another that united us more as a team in our marriage.
And it’s a good thing too. In our wedding vows, I told Christi, “I will fight for you, not with you.” She vowed, “You are my teammate.” Though our “ah-ha” moment and challenge came after we had kids, this interview, I believe, resonates no matter how many years you’ve been married.
Fellow husbands and dads, I especially encourage you to listen to this interview. Christi’s transparency and insight gave me perspective that took our marriage to a whole new level. As a result, we ended up back in the same locker room.
