Our resident therapist, Sissy Goff, joins us this week to talk about how we can better know our girls, especially when they worry. If you haven’t heard Sissy before,… View Post

We had a revelation together recently about how we We had a revelation together recently about how we converse on our podcast. It was a revealing conversation (of which we discuss in this week’s episode) that ultimately led to a two-episode series where @joshua.straub interviews @christistraub 👏 This conversation was completely unscripted, as Christi didn’t know the questions ahead of time. What came from it was a beautiful, heartfelt two-part conversation about Christi’s own experiences with motherhood, healing, and finding her voice. Watch now at the link in our bio.

I think the reason I hate being asked “what I do I think the reason I hate being asked “what I do” is because I feel like my false self is being summoned to speak. As if I’m being asked to perform so the person can decide if they want to continue talking to me or move on to someone else. In this way, even at the most personal level—just like the Western industrial complex we find ourselves in—we dehumanize each other by judging a person’s worth, not as a human being created in the image of God, but by what they can do for us.

Unfortunately, the cognitive dissonance between the “why” and “what” for us at a personal level is becoming glaringly more obvious. We know the “what” doesn’t bring us alive, but it’s what fills our calendar.

The “what” is how we put food on the table.

The “what” is how we educate our kids.

The “what” is how we serve people.

The “what” is what people know us by.

The “what” is where we get our identity.

And somewhere along the way, no matter our intentions, we lose our “why,” because the demands of the world around us require our “what.”

Yet, the “what” is not who I am.

Excerpts taken from The “What” Is Not Who I Am, this week’s newsletter written by @joshua.straub

As parents, fostering an environment of resilience As parents, fostering an environment of resilience for our kids is arguably one of the most important ways we can set our kids up for healthy relationships and self-competence. Yet, with the state we find ourselves in as a culture, we ourselves need to build resilience as well. In this week’s episode, @joshua.straub and @christistraub talk about practical ways of cultivating resilience in your home. Watch now at the link in our bio.
